PPF vs. ceramic coating

Film stops chips. Coatings make washing easier. They're often sold together, but they do very different jobs.

Which one does your car need?

Choose film if rock chips are your main worry, you drive US-131, I-196 or gravel roads, or you want to keep original paint for resale or a lease return.

Choose a coating if your paint is already in great shape, chips aren't a big concern, and what you want is gloss and easy washing.

Or do both: film on the front end and rockers, coating over everything, including the film.

PPF vs. ceramic questions

Still have a question? Call Mark at (616) 577-8804.

Can you put a ceramic coating over PPF?

Yes. A coating can go over the film to add gloss and make it even easier to wash.

Is PPF worth it over ceramic coating?

If you want to prevent rock chips, yes; a coating can't stop one. If you want gloss and easy washing on paint that's already in good shape, a coating may be enough.

Which lasts longer?

Quality PPF typically lasts 5 to 10 years. Professional ceramic coatings usually last 2 to 5.
